Long-haul flights are definitely not the time to prioritise fashion over comfort. Dress comfortably because you’ll be sitting in a confined space for long hours. Flights can also get pretty chilly so be sure to board in loose fitting clothes and bring along extra layers just in case! Some ideal outfits can be oversized shirts, sweatpants, cardigans and hoodies!

#2 Make new friends

SG

From flight attendants to your seatmate, you are all in this long flight together, so be pleasant to everyone. There’s also no harm in striking up a friendly conversation with your seatmate; you never know when you will get a new travel buddy by the end of your flight!

#3 Get up every few hours to get your blood flowing

Other than preventing the risk of getting deep vein thrombosis (DVT), getting out of your seat every few hours is also more conducive for getting some rest as compared to taking sleeping pills.

Consider doing these simple exercises from your seat to help keep your blood flowing:

1. Neck rolls
Drop your chin to your chest. Rotate your head five times in a clockwise motion. Then repeat in the opposite direction.

2. Shoulder rolls
Sit in a relaxed position with your arms by your side. Roll your shoulders forward five times. Reverse the motion and repeat five times.

3. Calf raises
Sit down with your legs at a 90-degree angle. Raise your heels off the floor such that you are on the tips of your toes. Repeat 10 times.

4. Ankle rolls
Raise your feet off the floor. Point your toes and move them around in a circle, moving one foot clockwise and the other anti-clockwise.

#4 Hydrate

Plane cabins tend to be very dry places so remember to stay hydrated by drinking sufficient water and applying moisturiser! You may also want to throw in a small bottle of eyedrops if you are prone to dry eyes.

#5 Buckle up

f you’re intending to sleep during your flight, make sure your fastened seat belt can be seen over your clothing or blanket. This way, flight attendants will not have to wake you up when they do their safety checks.

#6 Pamper your eyes

Lastly, pamper your eyes with a steam eye mask! This invention relieves and relaxes tired eyes, making it simpler for you to fall asleep during the flight. The steam produced can also moisten the area around your eyes!
