It’s no secret that a bottle of rubbing alcohol can come in handy around the home. But, did you know that this surgical spirit can also be used in the beauty world too? Perfect for cleaning up your kit as well as fixing makeup mishaps, find out all the reasons why you should stock up on this multi-purpose product.

Clean Glasses

Rid your glasses of germs, dirt and dreaded smudges by applying a few drops of rubbing alcohol to a cloth and wiping away. For added convenience, create a lens cleaner solution of 3 parts rubbing alcohol, 1 part water and a couple of drops of liquid soap and store in a travel-friendly spray bottle.

Fix Broken Powder

If you’ve watched your favorite blusher/highlighter/eyeshadow in full flight mode, followed by a mighty crash against the floor, then you’ve experienced true beauty pain. But, instead of keeping the remnants of said product in a sort of makeup shrine, restore it to its former glory. How, we hear you shout? Rubbing alcohol. Simply break up the rest of your destroyed product, add a few drops of rubbing alcohol and reshape. Once dry, it will look as good as new. Phew!

Clean & Disinfect Brushes

If you get a strange sense of satisfaction after a spontaneous makeup brush cleaning sesh, then you’ll love this beauty titbit. Adding this solution into the mix will not only clean leftover product from the brushes but will disinfect them too. All you need to do is soak brushes in rubbing alcohol for a minimum of 30 minutes, rinse and air dry.

Use a Hand Sanitiser

Not only will rubbing alcohol clean hands, but it will also help to eliminate stubborn odours such as garlic and onion. Add a little scent to a homemade formula by mixing 2 parts rubbing alcohol, 1 part aloe vera gel and a couple of drops of fragranced essential oil.

Remove Wax

No matter how careful your beautician or waxing-guru-bff is, it’s pretty much impossible to walk away from a waxing session without any leftover residue or stickiness. But, rub away the troublesome patches with a hand towel coated in rubbing alcohol. It’s also perfect for cleaning an at-home waxing machine too!
