“We really are what we eat.” Yup, you have heard it a million times before. Believe it or not, eating the right foods is the easiest way to slash years off how you look. You can literally eat your wrinkles away. So, make sure you load up on these anti-aging foods on your next grocery run.

#1 Sweet Potato

Younger skin is just a sweet potato away. The root vegetables are rich in “beta-carotene”, an antioxidant that is then converted to Vitamin A once ingested, to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay. To top it all off, these tasty orange veggies contain almost no fat and carbohydrates!

#2 Dark Chocolate

Not all chocolates are equal when it comes to anti-aging. Here we are talking about dark chocolates with at least 70% cacao. Studies have shown that flavanols in dark chocolates can protect your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays and increase blood flow to your skin, leaving your skin wrinkle-free, plump and moist.

#3 Kale

This leafy green veggie is the superfood you must start including in your diet. Packed with lycopene, lutein and b-carotene, kale helps fight harmful free radicals you encounter every day and therefore maintain the youthfulness of your skin. It’s only 36 calories per cup of cooked kale. Sweet!

#4 Pomegranate

The tiny ruby red pomegranate seeds are loaded with multi-nutrients such as vitamins C, D, E, and K along with magnesium and proteins. These powerful compounds help fight against free radical damage and prevent premature aging.

#5 Nuts

It’s the omegas in the nuts that do wonders to your skin. No matter what nuts you choose – cashews, almonds, peanuts and pistachios – they are all high in Vitamin E, that is crucial for repairing skin tissue and protecting skin from harmful UV rays. Snacking on nuts is indeed a smart choice.
