Ever thought of skipping moisturizer because your skin feels sticky after applying? Or have you been experiencing constant melt-off of makeup because you didn’t moisturize enough? There are 4 types of oily skin in general: (1) very oily complexion, (2) oily but dry, (3) oily and acne-prone and (4) oily and sensitive.

Mine is the oily but dry type, and I totally understand the mentioned concerns. For me, a perfect moisturizer has to be lightweight but intensely hydrating at the same time. This is especially important to survive the hot and humid weather in Singapore. Here’s my skin analyzer results before applying anything.

Skin moisture:29%

Skin oil:45%

Skin elasticity:Bad

After trying a number of moisturizers from different brands, the followings are my favourites.

# Most lightweight & hydrating- Cosrx Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion

Cosrx Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion

The Korean skincare brand Cosrx is on the rise and one of their popular products is the Cosrx Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion. As the key ingredients of lotion, birch sap takes up 70% of the ingredients and is loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. It is great in calming irritated or acne-prone skin while boosting the skin’s moisture level.

The lotion is a gel-cream texture with a herbally scent. It somehow reminds me the smell of tea tree oil. (Which I find quite refreshing and pleasant).

Being oil-free guarantees it won’t leave your skin feeling greasy or looking shiny, and most importantly I really felt hydrated!

# Most sensitive skin-friendly- Hada Labo Hydrating Water Gel

Hada Labo Hydrating Water Gel

Anyone who are interested in Japanese skincare will find the brand Hada Labo familiar. The gel is suitable for oily skin by helping to maintain skin’s oil-water balance and preventing over secretion of sebum on skin with the use of the Advanced Aqua Oil Volume Matrix technology—It uses 3D clusters to hold oil-in-water droplets that contain essential oil-soluble nutrients beneficial to skin. There are also 4 types of of hyaluronic acid to replenish and lock moisture in the skin.

The gel is on the watery side and glides on well on the skin. I like to spread an even layer of the gel on my face before sleep to nourish it overnight. It soaks in well and the best thing is that it does not contain fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant!

The mousse-like texture looks quite new to me, and I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical about the “lightweight” it claims. BUT the result is just “wow”! The moisturizer sinks into my skin like chocolate melts on the tongue! AND I just love the long-lasting matte finish.
